The Health Lottery has raised £111m for good causes – here’s where the money goes

Over the years the organisation has raised more than £111million, helping more than 3,000 projects to empower the most vulnerable communities in each region.

The Health Lottery operates on behalf of 12 society lotteries, each of which works closely with People’s Health Trust to ensure the money goes where it’s needed most.

Loneliness, dementia, mental health issues and learning disabilities are just some of the issues they support.

And while you’re helping make a difference to other people, you could also change your life forever with a massive cash prize if you’re one of the lucky winners.

There have been more than 11million Health Lottery winners so far, scooping an incredible £148 million between them.

When you buy a £1 ticket, at least 20p goes straight into the charity pot. Each local society lottery takes turns at participating in the draw so that every area in England, Scotland and Wales gets an appropriate share of the good cases money raised.

Disability Pride Brighton (above) is just one of the incredible charities which has received funding using money raised through The Health Lottery.

Attended by more than 3,000 people this year, it was the first event of its kind in the UK and was set up to raise awareness of the diversity and value of disabled people, whether they have visible or invisible conditions.

People’s Health Trust now funds now funds its volunteering programme, which helps make it bigger and better.

Youth Sport Trust, Scope, Royal Voluntary Service and TCV are just some of the other charities that have benefitted.

Good causes in the Health Lottery South West area will benefit from November’s cash, while those in the Health Lottery East area will take the December pot.
