Jessica Simpson is a mother of two and for some reason, people keep trashing her for practically everything she posts on Instagram. The latest target: her family’s Halloween costumes.
For Halloween, Jessica, her husband Eric, and their kids Ace and Maxwell dressed up, as people do, and she shared a snapshot of them on Instagram. Jessica and Eric were the musical duo Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings, while Ace was a cowboy and Maxwell was Belle from Beauty and the Beast—it was pretty standard stuff.
Unfortunately, people homed in on the fact that Maxwell’s naturally blonde hair was brown, and seriously freaked out. “Why would you colour your daughter’s hair at such a young age???????” one person wrote.
“Please don’t tell me she dyed her daughter’s hair!!!” another said.
“Hopeful just temp wash out colour,” someone else wrote.
Luckily, plenty of other people defended Jessica and urged everyone to chill out. “Jessica probably used a temporary root touch-up spray in brown for her costume so it’ll wash out. So relax y’all, jeez,” one person wrote.
“Seriously? Why are people all upset that the child’s hair is a different colour for Halloween? Ever hear of temporary hair dye? and it’s not YOUR child so shut the heck up. She isn’t doing anything wrong with HER child,” someone else said.
Jessica later posted photos on Instagram of Maxwell with her hair back to her naturally blonde colour, so clearly it was temporary dye—not that it should matter to anyone other than Maxwell and her parents.
This isn’t the first time Jessica has been mommy shamed on Instagram.
In June, she posted a photo of Maxwell posing in a bikini next to her scooter, and people freaked. “There are disgusting people out there who would use this picture for bad things. Never post pictures of young girls in bathing suits for the public to see!” one person wrote. (The picture has since been removed.)
In September, Jessica shared a photo of herself and Eric at Eric’s Oktoberfest-themed birthday bash, and got trashed for saying she was “hot” for her husband. “Do you forget you are a mother?!! This picture will haunt your kids someday,” one person wrote in the comments.
Seriously, people—calm the heck down. And, if you can’t, just stop following Jessica. It’s really that simple.
