JINsoon has teamed with swimwear brand Flagpole for a summer collection of three nail shades that take inspiration from the rainforest and ocean. The collection launches today.“I had a meeting with the designers and loved their inspiration and their aesthetic,” said Jin Soon Choi, founder of her namesake brand and her Jin Soon Hand and Foot Spa, which has four locations in Manhattan. “I like how we’re both New York City heritage brands and we both pay attention to detail and craftsmanship.”The concept behind the collaboration was to match your nails with your swimsuit, so Choi looked to Flagpole’s spring swimwear collection. Known for its color-blocked swimwear, the collection includes one- and two-piece swimsuits in teal, navy, light blue and chartreuse, and tops, skirts, dresses and robes in a blue striped pattern.“I was drawn to vibrant colors and colorblocking,” Choi continued. “ are modern and geometric, which is totally us.”Choi settled on three shades: Plunge, a navy hue, Sandbar, a nude, beige hue and Scuba, a bright teal hue. She wanted the shades and names to reflect elements of the beach and rainforests, which were also points of inspiration for Flagpole designers Megan Balch and Jaime Barker.“This was a dream collaboration as we’ve been long-time fans of ,” the designers said. “There is a natural fit between both of our brand ethos’ and we immediately had a connection when we first met. The world of nails felt like a natural extension for Flagpole, as it’s always the last stop before heading away on vacation.”While this is the first collaboration for Flagpole, JINsoon has embarked on many partnerships with various artists and brands. For example, Choi partnered with South Korean artist Hyang-Sook Yun for a pop-art inspired nail polish collection this March, graffiti artist Chris Riggs for a collection of four polishes and graphic nail appliques in March and Interview Magazine for a limited-edition multi-colored glitter lacquer in October.Like most of the brand’s polishes, this collection includes formulas that are 10-free, created without toxic chemicals, like formaldehyde, toluene or DPB.The collection is available now in-store and online at Barneys New York, Jin Soon Hand and Foot Spas and Flagpole for $18 each.
