Macy’s is beefing up its beauty staff. The department store chain is looking to fill nearly 1,000 beauty adviser positions in city-area stores across the country.Seeking both full-time and part-time staff, Macy’s is encouraging candidates to attend its hiring events on May 22. These events will take place in cities nationwide, including Chicago, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, New York, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Miami, Seattle and Los Angeles. The retailer also reported a net income of $131 million in the first quarter this week. “We exceeded our expectations and saw strong performance across all three brands — Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and Bluemercury — as well across all geographic regions and families of business,” Jeff Gennette, Macy’s Inc. chairman and chief executive officer, told WWD on Wednesday.WWD also reported that Macy’s is expected to open 25 freestanding Bluemercury stores this year.
