Fragrance brand Bond No. 9 and The UN Women for Peace Association are hosting a “Bond Fire” to promote international peace.Held on May 8 at 432 Park Avenue, Bond No. 9 will light 100 of its Scent for Peace candles to promote its campaign for international peace. Imitating a bonfire, the event is meant to encourage people to bond together to empower and end violence against women, which is the mission of the UN Women for Peace Association.“We really wanted the private sector’s attention to give back and has supported us from the beginning,” said Dame Muna Rihani Al-Nasser, chairman of the UN Women for Peace Association, on teaming up with the Bond No. 9 founder and chief executive officer. “Her vision of creating the Scent for Peace has a strong message and reminds people that peace is important.”Women’s issues have been at the core of Bond No. 9 since its inception. Rahmé teamed up with the UN Women for Peace Association early in her career to raise funds and promote international peace. For her work, Rahmé was honored with the United Nations’ Women for Peace Award in 2015. She also launched the Scent for Peace, which also comes in a fragrance and body lotion, in 2006 with a portion of net sales going to the UN Women for Peace Association.“As a brand our mission is not just to make new products, but do something bigger,” Rahmé said. “The message has to be bigger than the product. We want to raise awareness and have a commitment to take this globally.”One of the UN Women for Peace Association’s initiatives is to promote female empowerment through education. Recently, the association opened its first school, The UN Women for Peace Association School for Syrian Refugee Girls, in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley.“We believe in educating girls to give them a better future,” Al-Nasser continued. “If we come together to do something, we create a big platform around the world as well.”Scent for Peace is currently available at $105 for the candle, $125 for the body lotion and $330 for a 100-ml. bottle at Bond No. 9 stores and online and at Saks Fifth Avenue.
